2019 Folly Theater Jazz Series / Poster Design
This series of posters for the Folly 2019 Spring Jazz series were influenced by the decor in the Folly Theater in downtown Kansas City as well as the free flowing, organic movement of live jazz.
The form and colors of each poster highlight the sound and charisma of each artist. Built in 1900, the Folly exudes late victorian elegance in its swirling, floral motifs.
The process involved curling and photographing paper and printed type to create the illusion of movement and depth. The texture of the paper created variance in the quality of the type and lines, alluding to the humanness of jazz.
